All cultures have traditions that focus on gratitude. This week, we are preparing to celebrate Thanksgiving Day and putting our attention to counting our blessings and giving thanks. No matter where you are on the planet, please take time to contemplate the gifts you have received and, more importantly, try gratitude in reverse.
What is Gratitude in Reverse?
To move from the darkness into the light we must master gratitude, but not in the way you are probably thinking as you read this. Mastering gratitude means receiving gratitude as well as giving it, a trait most of us lack (at least at the divine level).
The depth of this revelation came to me several years ago during meditation. I was working with the resonance of Divine Gratitude to heal an issue and was guided specifically to ask to receive gratitude from Source for my work through many lifetimes. I could not believe the level of resistance. Layers of unworthiness and lack of deserving flowed to the surface. I realized I was quite willing to give gratitude to my soul and Source but was not willing to receive their gratitude in return. Who knew?
The question, “Who knew?”, was two-fold. Obviously, I had not previously recognized how unwilling I was to receive their gratitude. But I don’t believe I actually knew that I was supposed to. We are all taught the importance of being grateful for everything every day: keep a gratitude journal and have an attitude of gratitude. We are also taught to be willing to receive: “my cup runneth over” and “ask and ye shall receive.” However, I did not remember ever hearing to open myself to fully receiving gratitude at the level I was being asked to experience. What I felt when I did was beyond words.
It Took Practice
I continued to practice allowing gratitude in reverse which also allowed me to experience more self-love. Gratitude for self is an important aspect of self-love. As I have learned all too well, lessons are repeated until learned, and the higher in frequency we go, the more subtle the lessons.
I finished a “spiritual” project that I was guided to lead and I sent out my thank you letters to everyone who had helped. My attention kept coming back to the thank you letters. It took a few minutes for me to realize that I needed another experience in receiving. Source was trying to give me a big thank you but I was downgrading my role in the project and its impact. I was guided to channel a thank you note from Source to me.
Beloved Marsha,
Know today how proud We are of you. Your soul and everyone in the higher realms see all that you have done, all that you have contributed, and the great impact you have on others, even in ways you do not see.
Never underestimate your journey. Never underestimate the value of each lesson you receive and each lesson you give. Love yourself. Embrace yourself and be grateful for all that you are because We are.
With Eternal Gratitude, Source
What About You?
Sometimes, in an effort to remain humble, we neglect to recognize that we do deserve a round of gratitude for what we have done and achieved. This does not make us arrogant or self-centered. It makes us masterful. We need a balance of giving and receiving to fully experience ourselves as Source.
Test your level of willingness to allow gratitude in reverse–praise balanced with humility.
- Write a list of gratitude to yourself just as you would to another person or to Source. This may not be easy the first time.
- Ask to be filled with the energy of Divine Gratitude from Source for who you are and all you have done. Sit in this energy and allow yourself to feel it completely.
- Next write a thank you note from Source to you. Do not sensor it! Post it where you can read it many times.
- If any of this is difficult, use whatever clearing and energy process you use to heal the blocks to receiving.
Know the beauty of who you are. Let gratitude fill you in all ways. Above all, know the joy and grace of becoming the master that you are and knowing yourself as Source.

I am grateful to you, Marsha, for becoming the first honored guest on my radio show. Your presence made my journey easier to begin.
I am grateful to my Source and myself for taking on this 7-year journey beginning at age 65. I am grateful to myself for having similar goals in the near future.
I love you, Marjo. You have been an inspiration to so many people, and I am honored to have been a very small part of it. You have the gratitude of all who know you and, definitely, the gratitude of Source.
Thank you Marsha for your Love in always sharing yourself and such timely and profound Divine Wisdom with us. So inspiring and helpful this post to move me toward the practice of being grateful for who I am and who we all are-knowing ourselves as Source. This opening to receive Divine Gratitude is such a blessing to practice. Many thanks and Much Light and Love to you. Have a joyful wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday.
Hey, Rita. Self-gratitude is a big one, and we all have to master it. Keep on truckin’ and have a joyous Thanksgiving. Love you!
